Ivy Street Ensemble has several school programs that can be customized depending on the desires of the school, age of children, and number of musicians. Our school concerts present a quartet of musicians (the trio plus a cellist). We perform music by composers that range from the Baroque Era to living composers. Aware of the need for teachers to incorporate state education standards on a daily basis, Ivy Street Ensemble strives to incorporate both the idea of theme and variations (ties in nicely to writing), and a small science lesson, while demonstrating the three different types of flutes.
Ivy Street Ensemble regularly performs at elementary schools in the Denver-metro region. Their young audiences are usually comprised of children ranging in age from 4 – 11 years old. ISE also performs for middle school and high school students, but these concerts have less talking and more music for the older concert goers to absorb.
The Ivy Street Ensemble’s education concerts are geared toward introducing a variety of instruments, while at the same time giving a tangible lesson on theme and variation that children of all ages can understand.
